Let the length of the pendulum be x

The radius is x

........................................................................................................................

STEP 1: Form the equation for the circumference:

Circumference = 2πr

Since we have defined the radius as x:

Circumference = 2xπ cm

........................................................................................................................

STEP 2: Form the equation:

Degree/full swing x circumference = length of arc

40/360 x 2xπ = 44

........................................................................................................................

STEP 3: Solve x:

40/360 x 2xπ = 44

80xπ/360 = 44

80xπ = 15840

x = 15840 ÷ 80π

x = 63 cm

........................................................................................................................

Answer: The length of the pendulum is 63 cm

TooFree: You are welcome :)
meenakshi997sa: could u plz explain step 2???
TooFree: 40 degree as a fraction of 360.
TooFree: Let me go in and edit and add in more details
meenakshi997sa: thank u for adding a bit of detail.... ☺☺☺☺
meenakshi997sa: thanks... ☺ understood now...
TooFree: I have edited it to include more details .. I hope it helps
meenakshi997sa: ya it did
TooFree: Hmmm .. i think it makes it worse .. I think the original was a better explanation .. hahaha .. let me put it back
