a 60 kg block is released from rest 80 m above the ground . when it has fallen 60m its kinetic energy is approximately :

KE = 0.5mv^2 

finding the velocity 

v^2=u^2+2as 
v^2 = 2(9.8)(80) 
v = 39.6 m/s 

KE = 0.5(60)(39.6)^2 
KE = 47044.8 J
