activity and the related studied concepts.

Take about 2 gram ferrous sulphate crystals in a dry boiling tube. Note the colour

of the ferrous sulphate crystals. Heat the boiling tube over the flame of a burner.

Observe the colour of the crystals after heating. The colour of ferrous sulphate crystal

changes. Gas having the smell of burning sulphur comes out of the boiling tube.

a) What type of chemical reaction takes place in the above activity? Define the type of

b) Write the colour of the crystal before and after heating.

c) Write the chemical equation for the reaction involved.
