Question: Length of a rectangular field is 5 1/4 m and breadth is 1 1/7 m. Find the area of the rectangular field.

GIVEN:

Length of a rectangular field = 5 1/4m

Breadth of rectangular field = 1 1/7m

TO FIND:

Area of the rectangular field.

SOLUTION:

Convert the mixed fraction into improper fraction.

==> 5 1/4 = (5 × 4 + 1) / 4 = 21/4m

==> 1 1/7 = (1 × 7 + 1) / 7 = 8/7m

We know that,

Area of rectangle= l × b

Where, l = length and b = breadth

==> 21/4 × 8/7

==> 168/28

==> 6m²

Therefore, the area of field is 6m².
