The above diagram represents displacement of copper from Copper sulphate by Iron. This reaction is used mainly in Extraction of Copper metal. Since Iron is at a higher position in reactivity series than Copper  i,e, more reactive, therefore it displaces copper from its Compound. That is why the dissolved out Copper settles on the iron nail.
