CIRCLE

(i) A circle can have infinite number of tangents.

(ii) Longest chord of circle is known as Diameter.

(iii) Secant : It is the line which intersects the circle at two distinct points .

Note:

  • Tangent of a circle is a straight line which touches the circle at any one point. The tangent of any circle is perpendicular to the radius at the point of tangency.
  • Chord is defined as the line segment joining any two points on the circumference of the circle, hence diameter which passed through the center of any circle is the longest possible chord.
