Answer the following question: -
1. What do you mean by lateral inversion?
2. write any two difference between image and Shadow?
3. What do you mean by irregular and diffuse reflection?
Answers
Answer:
1. Lateral inversion is a phenomenon in which left appears to be right and vice versa. It is due to the direction that light follows when it strikes a reflecting surface, generally a mirror.
2. Shadows are formed when opaque objects obstruct the path of light. Image is seen when the light comes from the object after reflection or refraction enters the observer's eye. No light enters the eye from the shadow of the object. The image gives more information such as colour, structure, etc.
3. When a beam of parallel light rays is scattered in all directions, So, the parallel rays incident on the surface will reflect in different directions, and it is called irregular or diffuse reflection.
Answer 1:
Lateral inversion - The phenomenon of left side appearing right side and right side appearing left side on reflection in a plane mirror is called lateral inversion.
Answer 2:
Image:It is formed by intersection of reflected rays.
Shadow:Shadow is formed when light does not reach behind the object.
Image:Image is seen when reflected rays approach to observer's eyes.
Shadow:No light enters the observer's eyes.
Answer 3:
Irregular Reflection:
1. Reflection from a rough surface is called diffuse reflection.
2. Parallel rays do not remain parallel after reflection.
