1) James Mill was a Scottish economist and a political philosopher and also the writer of 'A history of British India'. He did not cherish any positive idea about India and said that all the Asian societies were at the lower level of European societies. He periodise India into British, Hindu and Muslim.

2)EEIC stands for East India Company. It came to India in 1600.It was a British trading company.

3) The Treaty of Madras was a peace agreement signed on 4 April 1769 between Mysore and the British East India Company which brought an end to the First Anglo-Mysore War. Fighting had broken out in 1767 and the forces of Hyder Ali had come close to capturing Madras at one point.
