1) The Himalayas, or Himalaya,

Sanskrit: हिमालय, hima (snow) + ālaya(dwelling)

2 ) it is located in south asia separating the plains of the Indian subcontinent from the Tibetan Plateau.

3) The three parallel ranges of the Himalayas are: Himadri (Great or Inner Himalayas) It is the most continuous range. The northernmost range is called the Himadri.

5) Himalayas are very much useful to India in many ways. It acts as a climatic barrier that prevents the cold wind from other parts of Asia and also provides rainfall in Northern India by preventing the monsoon winds. It also acts as a defense barrier in the Northern end as it prevents the country from foreign invasions.
