- In 1717, he gave Quli Khan the title of Zafar Khan and made him the Subahdar of Bengal, thus holding both the post of subahdar and diwan at the same time. He declared himself the Nawab of Bengal and became the first independent nawab of the province. The capital was shifted from Dhaka to Murshidabad

- Murshid Khuli Khan took advantage of the weak central authority and took over the control of Bengal where he had been appointed as a Subedar and then a Deccan.
- He become the Governor of the province of Bengal only in 1717 CE and established internal and external peace there.
- He organised the revenue system and gave loans to the poor cultivators. He granted equal opportunities to the Hindus and Muslims in the appointment to high official.

- Trade was well-developed as Indian goods were exported to different parts of Asia, Africa and Europe.

Ans4. Sher Shah Suri (1540-45) was an Afghan. He was given the title of “Sherkhan” by the rulers of Bihar. Gradually, he brought Bihar and Bengal under his control and defeated Humayun at Chausa. He took the title of 'Sher Shah' and established an efficient administration in India under Amirs in provinces. He set up strong army. He ordered land assessment of all cultivatable land. He encouraged trade, education, construction of roads, inns etc. Sher Shah Suri is known as the Forerunner Of Akbar.
