Answers
(a) Krishtakka, the Grandmother, had a keen desire to read. To achieve success in her desire, she worked very hard. She read, repeated, wrote and recited i.e., she did everything that the lesson demanded. Her capacity to do the home work was ’amazing’. She showed that there is no age bar for learning.
(b) The refrain in the poem is ’For men may come and men may go, but I go on forever’. It shows the transitory nature of human life and the eternal life of the nature. Man is mortal and continues his journey till he meets his death. The brook, on the other hand, is immortal. It is perennial and flows on till eternity.
(c) When Hooper returned home, he was excited at first. Later, as he was bed ridden, he felt lonely and depressed especially when Marcy went out for work.
(d) The poet
chose the road which was less travelled by people. This indicates that he
believed in choosing his
own path in life rather than doing what others expect him to do. He is
adventurous and loves to
take risks in life. He wants to stand out among the crowd.
