The answers for all four questions are as follows...

(i) Tea is an important beverage, its plant grows well in tropical or sub-tropical climate. For the growth of this plant, the soil should be deep, fertile and rich in organic matter.

(ii) Rice is a staple food crop of India. It is cultivated extensively in north and north-eastern India such as Punjab, Haryana, West Bengal, Assam and Andhra Pradesh etc.

(iii) Various institutional reform programs initiated by the government for the benefit of farmers are as follows ..

  • Minimum Support Price for the Crop.
  • Crop insurance for protection from natural disasters like drought, flood, fire etc.
  • Subsidies on resources such as electricity, water, fertilizer, agricultural machinery etc., which is essential for agriculture.
  • Credit card such Kisan Credit Card, Easy loan facilities for agriculture etc.
  • The government has established the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), agricultural universities and animal breeding centers to carry out research and development activities in agriculture.

(iv) With increasing population, land for cultivation has go reduced day-by-day, so there are many adverse consequences of this.

  • Food availability is decreasing due to increasing population.
  • Continuous increase in food prices.
  • Farmers migrate to other areas in search of livelihood along with increasing unemployment.
  • Loss of agro-based industries due to shortage of raw materials.
  • Bad effect on international exports as well.
