1. The Gupta Empire was an ancient Indian empire existing from the mid-to-late 3rd century CE to 543 CE. At its zenith, from approximately 319 to 467 CE, it covered much of the Indian subcontinent.[4] This period is considered as the Golden Age of India by some historians.[5][note 1] The ruling dynasty of the empire was founded by the king Sri Gupta
2. There was no Gram Panchayat during the Gupta period. The village headman gained importance in Gupta times, managing village affairs with the assistance of elders. However, there was the local council of elders in a village who performed the same functions which are performed by the Gram Panchayats today
3. There was industrial development during the Gupta period. The textile industry was an essential industry of this empire. Some of the major items of produce included silk, muslin, calico, linen, wool and cotton.
