Answer the following questions in detail.
1. Describe the process of photosynthesis in detail with the help of a diagram.
2. Explain the experiment to test a leaf for the presence of starch.
3. How can you prove that the process of photosynthesis requires sunlight?
4. Explain the mechanism of trapping insects in Venus flytrap.
5. What are the different types of heterotrophic nutrition in plants? Give two examples of each
Answers
Answer:
1.Through a process called photosynthesis, plants use energy in sunlight to turn a gas called carbon dioxide and water into sugar. Plants then use this sugar to grow. At the same time, plants produce a gas called oxygen as a waste product, which is lucky for us and other animals because we need oxygen to breathe!
2.The presence of starch in leaves can be tested by the Iodine test. When we remove chlorophyll from the leaf by boiling it in alcohol and then put two drops of iodine solution, it is colour change to blue indicates the presence of starch.
3.Take a green plant and put that plant in a dark place after few hours you will observe that the plants leaves are turned yellow or the plant will look like it will gone to die. Then put that the plant in sunlight after few hours it will again blossom. This will show that the process of photosynthesis required sunlight.
4. to attract flies or other prey, the Venus flytrap secretes nectar on to its open traps. Insects smell the sweet nectar and once they land on the leaves, they trip the trigger hairs on the outside of the traps. This causes the cells in the leaves to expand. In less than a second, the leaves shut.
5.Heterotrophic nutrition can be one of three types – holozoic, saprophytic or parasitic. Holozoic nutrition can be seen in most vertebrates and some unicellular organisms like the amoeba. Saprophytic nutrition is where the organisms feed on dead and decaying matter. Examples include bacteria and fungi.

Answer:
2) take two same type plant and put one plant in sunlight and one in the dark no light room after 2 days see it . then we know that starch is present in plant
