b) Ans - In an ecosystem, along with the food chain, there is a loss of energy and only 10 percent of the energy available at each trophic level is passed on to the next trophic level. Thus, if originally 5000 KJ of energy is available, at the next (or second) trophic level 500 KJ of energy will be available, at the next (or third) trophic level 50 KJ of energy will be available, at the next (or fourth) trophic level 5 KJ of energy will be available.
