Answer 1:- Jhoku was very thirsty. Yet he did not drink the water his wife gave him because that water was filthy and muddy.

Answer 2:- Gangi bought the water from the well which was long way off.

Answer 3:- The Thakur and the shopkeeper had wells in the village. Gangi could not draw water from those wells because she belongs to a low cast and the village people would not allow her to draw out water from the well.
