Answer:

1. any species that is at risk of extinction because of a sudden rapid decrease in its population or a loss of its critical habitat. ex: Blue Whale, Albatross, and the Snow Leopard

2. Extinction of a particular animal or plant species occurs when there are no more individuals of that species alive anywhere in the world - the species has died out. ex: Sabre-toothed Cat, dodo, passenger pigeon

3. The purple frog is listed as Endangered by the IUCN Red List, and is threatened by deforestation from expanding cultivation, in addition to consumption and harvesting by local communities.

4. The purple frogs are found in the western ghats of india and they live underground except the 2-3 weeks during the monsoon when it comes out to mate.

5. The purple frog has a bloated body with short stout limbs and is dark purple to greyish in colour. Reaching to about 7 centimetres, it has a small head in comparison to the body length, and an unusually pointed snout. Its short and muscular forelimbs with hard palms help it to burrow underground.

Answer:

A species that is threatened with extinction in the near future, either globally or within a certain political jurisdiction, is known as an endangered species. Invasive species, habitat degradation, poaching, and other issues may put endangered animals in danger.

Explanation:

  • The phrase "extinction" refers to the end of a particular type of organism or a set of types, typically a species.
  • The passing of the final member of the species is typically regarded as the moment of extinction.
  • The Indian purple frog is an endangered animal
  • The Indian purple frog is found in the Western Ghats of India
  • The Indian purple frog has short and stout limbs
  • The pignose frog, sometimes known as the purple frog, was first spotted in Kerala's Idukki district in October 2003.
  • It is indigenous to the Western Ghats in India and was not discovered until recently since it spends most of the year underground, only emerging for a few weeks during the monsoon to mate.

The ecosystems of the earth are balanced and stable because of the fauna that exists there and thus it is important to conserve endangered species.
