Industrialisation in India has affected tribal society in certain parts of the country. The tribals are typical natives to certain areas of the country, especially where there are forests as they depend on them for their livelihood.
Instead of involving the tribals before taking decisions regarding mining or heavy industry, forests have been denuded and agricultural land usurped.
Use of force has resulted in movements such as left-wing extremism, so much so that the Government is today finding it difficult to control its effects.
Instead of the wanton destruction of their homeland, the tribals should first have been rehabilitated, given compensation, given jobs and provided with amenities like better drinking water, good healthcare facility etc. before the industrialisation drive was launched.
