[PLEASE SEE THE ATTACHED DIAGRAM TO UNDERSTAND THE SOLUTION]

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

  • AB & AC are the two tangents.
  • <BAC = 60°
  • OA = 12

Required to Find:

  • Measure of OB

Solution:

Since < BAC = 60°,

Therefore,<BAO = 60/2 = 30°

Now,

In ∆ OBC

  • <OBA = 90°,
  • <OAB = 30°,
  • OA = 12 (hypotenuse)

Therefore,

sinA = perpendicular/hypotenuse

=> sin 30° = OB/OA

=>1/2 = OB/12

=> OB = 12/2

=>OB = 6

THEREFORE, MEASURE OF OB = 6
