an article, published in the new york times, dated 4 oct 1897, reports the arrest of damodar chapekar deccani, and 28 others, Ayerst's and Rand slayers ......it further states that Chapekar boasted of murdering the dravids and also named an accomplice, Ranade . it also reports the arrest of Chapekar and Ranade .
