Hi!
Its not possible to brake a piece of iron in many small particles like chalk because iron is a metallic substance and chalk is a non metallic substance and all the metallic substances have the property of malleability in which on beating any metal the metal will change into thin sheet but it will not break into small pieces but non metallic substances doesn't show this property so thats why chalk breaks down into many small particles.

the particles in the piece of chalk have very weak forces of attraction while metals like iron have strong metallic bonds between the particles, so they do not break easily
