such that angle EPB is equal to angle DEF

also Ray PF should be parallel to ray BC

hence angle EPB + angle PBC= 180 degree

( corresponding angles property of parallel lines)

as angle EPB = angle FED (by construction)

hence substituting angle EPB = angle DEF

therefore angle DEF= angle ABC   ( A-P-B)
