1.(a) 4x=16

x=16/4 = 4

(b) -7y=-35

y=-35/-7= 5 (negative gets canceled) (-) + (-) = (+)

(c)x/3=20

x=20×3=60

(d)-5p=-60

-5p=-60

p=-60/-5= 12

(e)x-1/4=15

x-1=15x4

x-1=60

x=60+1=61

(f)4(2x+2)=16

2x+2=16/4

2x+2=4

2x=4-2

2x=2

x=2/2= 1

Answer:

A.) X=4

B.) Y=-28

C.) X=60

D.) P= -55

E.) X=61

F.) X= 0

Step-by-step explanation:

A.)

4x=16\\\\\frac{4x}{4} =\frac{16}{4} \\\\x=4

A.) How I did it

I divided both sides by 4 ( now you should just have x=16/4 because the 4s on the left side cancel out and 16 divided by 4 equals 4 so your answer is x=4)

B.)

-7y=-35\\+7      +7\\y=-28

B.) How I did it

Since the 7 was negative I added the 7 to both sides (so now you should have   y=-35+7 because the 7s on the left side cancel out and -35+7=-28 so your answer is y=-28)

C.)

\frac{x}{3} =20\\3\frac{x}{3} =20x3\\x=60

C.) How I did it

I multiplied the 3 by both sides (so now you should have x=20x3 because the 3s on the left side cancel out and 20x3=60 so your answer is x=60)

D.)

-5p=-60\\+5     +5\\P=-60+5\\P=-55

D.) How I did it

Since the 5 was negative I added the 5 to both sides (so now you should have   p=-60+5 because the 5s on the left side cancel out and -60+5=-55 so your answer is p=-55)

E.)

\frac{x-1}{4} =15\\4\frac{x-1}{4} =15x4\\x-1=60\\+1        +1\\x=60+1\\x=61

E.) How I did it

I multiplied the 4 by both sides (so now you should have x-1=15x4, times 15x4=60, now since the 1 is negative you can add 1 to both sides, now you should have x=60+1, and 60+1=61, you answer is x=61.

F.) Is in the photo attached

F.) How I did it

I used the F.O.I.L method to solve it, I also combined like terms.

Hope this helps.
