A person has the money=900
he spent half money for purchasing clothes
so, 900/2=450
Also he spent 1/3 of remaining money for stationaries
so, 1/3x450=150

Therefore, the money spent by the person
=450+150
=600
So the remaining money=300

the money spent by the person in fractions
=600/900
=2/3

expenditure \: on \: clothing =  \frac{1}{2}  \times 900 \\  = 450
expenditure \: on \: stationaries =  \frac{1}{3}  \times 450 \\  = 150
amount \: of \: money \: remaining \: with \: him = 900 - (450 + 150) = 900 - 600 = 300
fraction \: of \: total \: money \: spent =  \frac{600}{900}  =  \frac{2}{3}
