Let speed of stream be= x km/hr=?

Time taken to go down the stream= 12/11+x hrs ........(s=d/t)

" " " Up stream = 12/11-x

12/11+x + 12/11-x = 11/4

12(11-x)+12(11+ x)

____________________=11/4

(11+x ) (11-x)

12X 11-12x+ 12X 11+ 12x = 11/4

4 (12+12)=121-x sqr

x sqr = 121-24X 4

=121-96

=25

therefore,, x =+or - 5

x = speed of stream

= 5 km / hr
