Answer this question:
(1.) A car takes 8s to slow down from a speed of 15 m/s to 5 m/s as it approaches a junction.
(i) What is the acceleration of the car?
(ii) If the car has a mass of 800 kg, what is the braking force required to slow the car?

Answer :-

1. (i) Given,

Initial velocity = 15m/s

Final velocity = 5m/s

Time taken = 8sec

Therefore, acceleration

 =  >  \frac{v - u}{t}  \\  =  >  \frac{5 - 15}{8}  \\  =  >  \frac{ - 10}{8}  \\  =  >  - 1.25

Acceleration = - 1.25m/s

Retardation = 1.25m/s

(ii) Given,

mass = 800kg

Acceleration = - 1.25m/s

We know that,

Force = mass x acceleration

=> Force = 800 x - 1.25m/s

=> - 1000N

Hope the answer helps you
