\huge{\underline{\underline{\textsf{Question}}}} :-

When 12 is subtracted from thrice a number, the result is 15. Find the number.

\huge{\underline{\underline{\textsf{Solution}}}} :-

Let the number be x

Thrice the number means 3 × x = 3x

12 subtracted from thrice the number = 3x - 12

The result obtained is 15

According to the given condition

3x - 12 = 15

Move the constant -12 to the RHS. -12 will become 12. Remember while shifting any number or variable from LHS to RHS or vice versa, + changes to - and - to +, × to ÷ and ÷ to ×

☛ 3x = 15 + 12

Add

☛ 3x = 27

Divide both the sides by 3

\dfrac{3x}{3} = \dfrac{27}{3}

After dividing, we get x as :

∴ x = 9 ✓✓

∴ The number is \large{\boxed{\boxed{\textsf{9}}}}
