The leaves have a green pigment called chlorophyll which absorbs sunlight and helps the leaves to synthesize the food.other parts have not chlorophyll so they are unable to synthezize the food.

when chappati is chewed for a longer time it becomes sweet in taste as it has carbohydrates and in that starch is present . when salivary gland in our mouth secretes saliva it breaks down the carbohydrates into starch so chappati becomes sweet in taste.
