The tooth have a hard outer covering known as Tooth Enamel which is the hardest substance of the entire body. This is made up of minerals like calcium and phosphorus. It is a crystallized form of calcium phosphate.

When the pH of mouth turns lesser than pH6, it starts corroding. The acids are produced by the bacteria present in our mouth by the degradation of sugar and the left food particles in the mouth. Thus, we should stop eating much sweet food and rinse our mouth.

The best way to prevent tooth decay are:

  • We should always clean our mouth after eating so that no left food remains in the mouth.
  • We should not eat much sweet food like chocolates, sweets etc. because degradation of these sugar can lead to production of acid.
  • We should used medicated tooth pastes because they have adequate amount of basic, neutralizing the effect of acid.
