let the numerator be x
then the denominator will be X + 8

if numerator is increased by 17 then it will become X + 17

and if the denominator is decreased by 1 it will become X + 8 - 1 =X + 7

according to the question

it is given the number obtained is 3 / 2


then the fraction is = X + 17 /X + 7 =3 / 2
=2(X + 17 )= 3(X + 7 )
=2x + 34 =3x + 21
=34 - 21 =3x - 2x
=13 = X

so, x = 13

then X + 17 = 30

and X + 7 =20

then the fraction is 30/20
