if the plastic insulation of the live wire and neutral wire gets torn, then the two wire touch each other. This touching of live wire and neutral wire is known as short circuit.

overloading = If more electrical appliances of high power rating like electric iron box, electric cooker, electric heater, air conditioner etc., are switched on at the same time, they draw an extremely large current from the circuit is called overloading.
=causes of overloading are :
when live and neutral wire come into direct contact accidentally hike in supply voltage by connecting many appliances to a single socket.

a) If the plastic insulation of the live wire and the neutral wire gets torn , then the two wires touch each other. This touching of live wire and neutral wire is directly known as short circuit.
When the two wires touch each other , the resistance of the circuit so formed is very very small , since the resistor is very small , the current flowing in the wires become very large and heats the wire to a dangerously high temperature and fire may start.

b) Overloading happens when excessive amount of electric current passes through a wire and excessive heating takes place.
Its two causes are -
1) Connecting too many appliances in a single socket results in overloading.
2) Accidental hike in supply voltage.

Hope it Helps
Plz mark as brainliest.
