- This is also called adenohypophysis.
HORMONES OF ADENOHYPOPHYSIS
1. GH Hormone
- Full form of GH hormone is growth hormone.
- It is also called as STH ( Somatotrophic Hormone).
2. TSH
- Full form of TSH is thyroid stimulating hormone.
- It is responsible for growth and development of thyroid follicle.
- It stimulates thyroxine secretion.
3. ACTH
- Full form of ACTH is adeno cortico trophin hormone.
4. FSH
- Full form of FSH is follicle stimulating hormone.
In males
- It stimulate spermatogenesis.
- It is responsible for development and growth of seminiferous tubules.
In females
- It is responsible for development of graffian follicle.
- It stimulates oogenesis.
- It controls the secretion of estrogen.
5. LH
- Full form of LH is leutenising hormone.
In males
- It is called as ICSH ( Interstitial cell secreting hormone ).
- It stimulates leydig cell for secretion of testosterone.
In females
- It is responsible for synthesis of corpus leuteum.
- It controls and regulate the secretion of progesterone.
6. Prolactin
- It is also called as mammotrophic, lactogenic or PRL (lactotrophic hormone).
- It stimulates the synthesis of milk after parturition.
7. MSH
- Full form of MSH is melanocyte stimulating hormone.
- It is also known as "intermedin" .
- It stimulates melanocyte for synthesis of melanin.
