Anu is 4 years older than Sunil. 8 years ago, Anu was three times Sunil's age. find the ages of Sunil and Anu.

let sunil's age be y
therefore sunil's age =4+x
hence y =4+x (eq 1)
in other case 8 years ago..
x=3y......because anu was 3 times sunil's age......
substitute the value of x in eq 1.... we get,,,
y=4+x
=y=4+3y
y-3y=4
-2y=4
therefore y =2yrs is sunil's age....
x=6yrs is anu's age......
