Anwar sold two washing machines at rupees 12000 each. on one he gains 25 percent and on other he loses 25 percent. how much he loses or gains on the whole transaction

$x + \frac{x}{4} = 12000 \\ \frac{5x}{4} = 12000 \\ x = 9600$
Hence, profit on 1st machine =2400 rs.

For 2nd machine,
$y - \frac{y}{4} = 12000 \\ \frac{3y}{4} = 12000 \\ y = 16000$
Hence loss on 2nd machine =4000 rs.

Hence total loss/profit=4000-2400
=1600 rs loss
