These numbers are called <b>co-prime numbers</b>. The main feature of co-prime is that they have only 1 as their common factor. That is, their HCF would be 1.

And any 2 consecutive integers are always co-prime because there is a least chance (infact, no chance) for them to have a common factor greater than 1.

Let's just take a look at the following pairs of numbers:
17,21 (Yes! They are co-prime. Reason: given below)
4,5
75,76

If we look closely, we see that they have only one common factor and that's 1.
The reason 17 and 21 are co-primes is the definition of co-prime numbers.
