The five disadvantages of Hydroelectricity are:
1) The source of the Hydroelectricity is from the hydroelectric power plant which requires a large medium for the conduction of water from the large fan-like turbines. This requires very large dams to be built which increases the vulnerability of an Earthquake, as, the large dam construction covers more ground area and leads to massive Earthquakes throughout the globe.
2) Because the source of Hydroelectricity wants a medium to be produced for the wildlife and it's overall environmental impact and marine life (both freshwater and saline water species) get affect in adverse numbers. The river flow pattern and it's character is always affected and because of this it leads to ecological destruction of the whole habitual species under the given area where the dam has been constructed.
3) Dams require a large area and it cannot be built without people's opinion and voices regarding their settlements in the place where the dam is to be built. This happens because of the energy which is suited to just some places and not anywhere where the hydroelectric power plant is planted (this means it cannot be planted without knowing the geographical conditions of the place you want to build, as, the place might be earthquake prone region or a region with a unpopular and infamous history of criminal activities and bomb blasts, so selection matters).
4) The gestation period for a dam to be built is very long as it might take several years for one dam to be constructed. It is also time consuming and money consuming this makes people elevated with frustration when there are long projects without any settlement criteria, making it a bootload of rejections from the people itself, as, it leads people or tribes to get displaced to newer locations of which they are not familiar with and affects their religious sentiments to that specific region they belong to which they regard it as scarce, holy or divine making it a infringement if the land is occupied by a private funding foundation or a government agency.
5) Lastly (specially for aquatic ecosystems), the construction of land disrupts and makes the aquatic ecosystem disturbed and leads to an immense scale of destruction in the species itself. The aquatic and marine organisms may get entrapped into those energy generating turbines killing them instantly, this also makes the breeding seasons of various aquatic organisms lower due to the irregular water flow, as, they have to go against the flow of the stream in a river rather than go with it, confusing the migratory fishes and killing them under its own path, unfortunately lowers the fish and aquatic population as as whole.
