From the figure:
In OSDR,
Angle D = ORD = ODS = 90 degrees.
DS = DR(Start from point D)
BP = BQ = 27cm.(Start from point B).
CR = CQ = 10cm.(Start from point C). ---- (1)
RD = RS = 10cm. --- (2)
Then, QC = BC - BQ
= 38- 27
= 11cm.
x = CD
= 10 + 11
= 21 cm.

if 27cm is in between AB i think the result will be 20.
