distance is a scalar quantity means it only has magnitude while displacement is a vector quantity & it has magnitude, direction & follows law of vectors.

yeah distance is basically a scalar quantity describing only the magnitude of the quantity.It has no.concern with direction. e.g Distance travelled by car 120km/h
While on the other hand Displacement deals with magnitude as well as direction.e.g the distance travelled by car towards west is 120km/h.
