The statement to be proven can be rewritten as x^1 + x^2 + x^3 + x^4 + x^5 + x^6 - 6M = 0. Now the value of M is (x^1 + x^2 + x^3 + x^4 + x^5 + x^6)/6. Put that value in this equation.

(x^1 +x^2 + x^3 +x^4 +x^5 + x^6) - 6(x^1 + x^2 + x^3 + x^4 + x^5 + x^6)/6 =0. as needed.
