Let the present age of Sunil be 's' years
Any's age = 4 + s
8 years ago:
Sunil's age = s - 8
Any's age = 4 + s - 8 = s-4
Any's age = 3 times Sunil's age
s - 4 = 3*(s - 8)
s - 4 = 3s - 24
2s = 20
s = 10
s+4 = 14
Sunil's present age = 10 years
Any's present age = 14 years.

Anu's age = x + 4

8 years ago, Anu was 3 times Sunil's age.

⇒(x+4) - 8 = 3(x-8)
⇒ x - 4 = 3x - 24
⇒ x - 3x = -24 + 4
⇒ -2x = -20
⇒ x = -20/-2 = 10

Hence,
Age of Sunil = x = 10 years
Age of Anu = x + 4 = (10 + 4) years = 14 years
