Action-reaction forces never cancel each other because they always act on different bodies. When we walk, we push the ground with some amount of force. The ground exerts equal amount of force on us, making us move forward. The ground doesn't move because of the huge mass of the earth. The magnitude of action-reaction forces is equal and the directions are opposite.
