GiveN :

  • u = 12 m/s
  • a = -6 m/s²
  • s = 9 m

To FinD :

  • value of v
  • form the equation

SolutioN :

We are given expression, v² = u² + 2as

(1) For calculating the value of v

Substitute all the given values in the equation :

⇒v² = (12)² + 2*-6*9

⇒v² = 144 - 108

⇒v² = 36

⇒v = √36

⇒v = 6

  • Final velocity is 6 m/s

{\sf{Final \: line \: should \: say \:, v \: = \: }} \\ \\ \boxed{\sf{\: \: \: \: \: \: v \: = \: 6 \: ms^{-1} \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \:}}

(2) For calculating the expression :

\implies {\sf{v^2 \: = \: u^2 \: + \: 2as}} \\ \\ \implies {\sf{v^2 \: - \: u^2 \: = \: 2as}} \\ \\ \longrightarrow \sf{s \: = \: \dfrac{\boxed{\sf{v}}^2 \: - \: \boxed{\sf{u}}^2 }{\boxed{\sf{2a}}}}
