Cell needs oxygen as in mitochondria energy production  take place and ATP is formed for this respiration is to be done and for respiration cell require oxygen

Our body cells require oxygen to realese energy. The oxygen that we take in during respiration is used to breakdown the food we eat to realese energy from it. When we breathe in oxygen, it diffuses into blood from the lung alveoli.
