Let  \frac{1}{x}  = u and \frac{1}{y} = v,

no, the equations will change to:

u+ 2v= 4 and -u+3v = 11

When we go by elimination method,

Both the u will get cancelled

u  +  2v = 4

-u  +  3v = 11

cancelling the u,

5v = 15 (we add both, because the signs of the variable u are different)

v= 3

Substituting in 2nd equation,

-u +  9 = 11

-u = 11-9

-u = 2

u= -2

\frac{1}{x}  = u, so \frac{1}{u} = x

\frac{1}{y}  = v, so  \frac{1}{v}  = y

so, x= \frac{-1}{2} and y = \frac{1}{3}
