Both are caused by similar factors of wind, water, ice, temperature, and even biological action. They can also occur together.

The “similarity” is that the same natural agent (e.g. water, wind) can sometimes be involved in both weathering and transport. However, other agents such as changes in temperature can weaken a rock but will not physically move the resulting fragments. Conversely, gravity will cause fragments to move, but does not break a rock.
