AOB is a straight line
therefore => a+b =180 degree .....(i)
=> a-b = 40 degree .....(ii)
By adding (i) &(ii) we get
2a=220 degree
a=110 degree
Substitute the value of a in a+b=180 degree
110 degree +b=180 degree
b =180 degree- 110 degree
b= 70 degree
therefore => a+b =180 degree .....(i)
=> a-b = 40 degree .....(ii)
By adding (i) &(ii) we get
2a=220 degree
a=110 degree
Substitute the value of a in a+b=180 degree
110 degree +b=180 degree
b =180 degree- 110 degree
b= 70 degree

Solution:
AOB is a straight line (Given)
∴a+b=180° (Linear pair)
a-b=40° (Given)
(a+b) + (a-b)=(180°) + (40°)
2a=220°
a=110°
a+b=180°
110°+b=180°
b=180°-110°
b=70°
So a=110° and b=70°
