Only strong metals like iron, nickel and cobalt can be magnetized.
Types of magnet

Electromagnets: These are obtained by winding a coil of copper wire around a core of iron, nickel or cobalt. When electric current is passed through the coil, it is magnetized and when current is stopped, it loses the magnetic property.
