All the metals are not magnetic. Metals which gets attracted when a magnetic material is placed are only called as magnetic materials. These magnetic materials can be converted into the magnets if needed.  

The best example for the magnetic metals are  

Iron

Nickel

Cobalt, and

some alloys of rare earth metals.  

These magnetic metals normally fall into the three categories They are.

Permanent magnets

Electromagnets

Neodymium magnets
