Appearance of the moon change every night because -

• We know that the moon is not self illuminated which means moon cannot produce light by itself.

• The moonlight is actually the sunlight which reflects on the surface of the moon and then comes to the earth.

• Now,when the moon goes in such a position while rotating around the earth, that the sunlight is completely or partially blocked by the earth, the moon also becomes partially illuminated.

• This partial illumination changes the appearance of the moon in every night.
