You are a rigid body (more or less). When ever you do anything physically, understanding where stresses and strains on your body (that are they to keep you from rotating) can be distributed in such a way not be harmful.
Sports usually have balls. Of those, there are many shapes and sizes. Understanding the key interaction with the wind/air and the ball’s shape/rotational mass can help inform how to think of noval ways to throw, toss, and score. Baseball is a good example of this.
